2012 Energy Dispute
$28 million underpayment recovery
Background: In a dispute over gas qualities/sampling during 2012, with a 3rd party pipeline purchaser – it was proven through auditing and implementation of online chromatography that energy content had been understated for an extended period of time.
Challenge: Overcoming arguments from authority and demonstrating procedure and laboratory results were inaccurate.
Outcome: Successfully proved that SOP, Industry standards, and laboratory results were not conducted within industry guidelines. Awarded $28 Million for underpayment.
2013 Experimental Propane Frac
Ad valorem and royalty dispute
Background: Company conducted an experimental propane frac on a new well in the Texas panhandle. The injected propane had to be accounted for above the baseline prior to frac to insure tax savings and also inaccurate royalty payments.
Challenge: Identifying baseline propane levels in gas stream of all wells within 1 mile radius of new drilled well. And then deploying 5 online chromatographs on and surrounding the new well to determine propane injected recovery.
Outcome: I designed this project and implemented – that included over 165,200 data results during 4 month long project – proven and documented tax and costs saving to company exceeded $7 million dollars.
H2S Shut In – 2017
Major Pipeline company shut in production due to high H2S
Background: South Central Texas – a major pipeline company shut in daily production of over 28 mmcf of gas per day due to improper and inaccurate field determination of H2S levels.
Challenge: Worked with all parties to prove that the testing procedure and equipment used was not just measuring H2S but that it was also recording other sulfur compounds and mercaptans by its reagent used and falsely reporting it as high H2S.
Outcome: Successfully reclaimed payment for lost daily production for 40 days.
